World Cup Entry Information

World Cup Entry Form

Athletes are reminded that entry to all of the 2010 UCI World Cup is strictly on the basis of:

  1. Being a member of a UCI registered trade team,
  2. Having accrued at least 20 UCI points in the athletes chosen MTB discipline by the closing registration date of each UCI World Cup round, or
  3. Being selected to enter on the basis of six (6) discretionary entries each UCI National Federation has for each MTB discipline.

NZ National Team – Discretionary Entries Allocation Process

The following is in regard to how the six (6) discretionary entries will be allocated.

For DHI, XCO the six (6) spots in each discipline will be allocated as follows:

  1. Priority allocation will be given to U19 DHI athletes and U23 XCO athletes on the ‘Long List’ 2010 World Champs MTB Team.
  2. Secondary allocation will be given to Elite DHI athletes and Elite XCO athletes on the ‘Long List’ 2010 World Champs MTB Team.
  3. Remaining allocation of the discretionary entry spots for U19 (DHI only), U23 (XCO only) and Elite (DHI and XCO) categories will be given on the basis of:

(a) misfortune through injury or other reasons for non-performance (for instance mechanical problems) in the 2010 National and Oceania Championships,

(b) for riders with previously demonstrated performance, or

(c) for athletes that have been identified as having development prospects.

Important Notes:

  1. For 4X the ’20 UCI points’ entry rule does not apply for World Cups.
  2. For U19 XCO the ’20 UCI points’ entry rule does not apply for World Cups.
  3. For U19 DHI riders who are members of a UCI registered MTB Team, the ’20 UCI points’ entry rule does not apply for World Cups.
  4. Discretionary places for the UCI World Cups will be decided by the MTB Selection Panel.
  5. As there is no selection policy for UCI World Cups these positions can not be appealed.
  6. UCI MTB World Cup entry forms are to be processed through Hughie Castle at BikeNZ.
  7. Once discretionary places have been awarded the MTB Selection Panel will contact the selected athletes – a NZ National Team jersey is required to be worn (at the respective UCI World Cups) by athletes selected and entered through this discretionary process.
