The RaboDirect NZ Mountainbike Championships have now run for the first two days of three, with Super D racing completed last night and Cross Country today, in the Codgers MTB Park in the Brook Valley, Nelson. NZ MTB Cup Cross Country Wrap from Christchurch – Elite and Junior Winners Two from Two
The Living Springs Farm Park in Governors Bay, Christchurch hosted the second round of the NZ MTB Cross Country Cup today. Weather conditions ranged from bitterly cold and rainy southerlies during the morning age group race to periods of sunshine in the afternoon Elite and Junior race, with all entrants being kept right on their toes dealing with the sudden and brutal changes in racing conditions. NZ MTB Cup Cross Country Wrap from Dunedin
Nerves were settled today for several winning athletes during the 2012 Elite Cross country races on Signal Hill in Dunedin today. Heavy overnight rain gave way to settled weather and a Signal Hill race course that improved as the day went on, and in the crowd pulling afternoon race start four winners crossed the finish line with the weight of both public and personal expectation lifted. The second round of the NZ MTB Downhill Cup presented by Nature Valley was raced today in a damp and soggy, constantly changing Dunedin. NZ MTB Cup, National and Oceania Championships
Entries are flooding in fast for these events, with the first NZ MTB Cup Downhill round ready to go next Sunday/Monday Jan 9th and 10th on the Remarkables in Queenstown. Its an easy process to enter and be part of competitive mountainbike racing at a national level. Or even if you just want to test yourself and have some fun against NZ’s best on some fantastic courses in some pretty amazing locations, MTBNZ encourages you to take the step and get racing!
On line entry available here for all events, and postal entry forms here. Or simply enter on the day if you want to leave a decision as late as possible. MTBNZ also encourages clubs and teams to register for all events, which gives a reserved spot in the event village.
