Downhill Protective Equipment Policy

MTBNZ adopted a Downhill Protective Equipment Policy in 2008, and continues to refine this policy both to the needs of event entrants and in terms of balancing a responsible and safe approach to this sport.

At the  2011 MTBNZ AGM V3 of this policy was produced, where the ‘mandatory’ wearing of full finger gloves was removed - instead becoming ‘highly recomended’. This change was initiated due to the difficult policing of this requirement by Commissaires and event staff, and also to reflect the desire of some competitors to wear no gloves.
